Veterans Day Discounts: Every Discount You Would Like to Know About
Veterans Day was previously referred to as Armistice Day. It is a national holiday in the USA commemorating military veterans who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces. It is honored annually on November 11 and falls on the same day as other memorial holidays such as Armistice Day and Remembrance Day, marking the end of World War I in other countries.
When the Agreement with Germany entered into force at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918, major battles in World War I were effectively terminated. In 1954, Armistice Day was renamed Veterans Day at the request of key veteran organizations in the United States. Veterans Day is not to be confused with Memorial Day since both are public holidays. Veterans Day honors all U.S. military veterans, whereas Memorial Day honors those who died while serving in the military. Armed Forces Day, which falls in May, commemorates individuals currently serving in the United States military.
Veterans Day is a day to honor those who have made tremendous sacrifices to keep the country safe. Though military veterans do not serve to be recognized, it is good to know that many companies and organizations dedicate a day to honoring their service.
